ABOUT Company Founder

Craig Van Horne, Producer/Senior Editor & Founder

After working for several years as a financial consultant Craig began working with small production companies in the Calgary market. Having been exposed at a young age to film and video by his creative father David, who worked in radio and television both on-air and as a writer/producer in hindsight this business was a natural calling for Craig.

Craig brings a technical understanding of this business which is part creative, part engineer and part technologist. Craig began his career in the late 1990’s this was at a time when digital video production was just transitioning from analog and digital editing was becoming democratized through the advances in personal computing. It was a requirement that independent boutique operators have a much more in-depth understanding and capability not only on the creative side but also on the technological management of systems.

Through this early necessity, the mentality which defines Scorched Ice Digital was formed. The expertise that Craig brings to this company is unequalled in the marketplace and that mentality of innovation and self-reliance is shared and disseminated to all who work with us.

Some of the skills that Craig offers are, non-linear editorial, color correction and color enhancement, demonstration artist on Matrox Accelerated Editing Systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and Digital Visions Nucoda Film Master color grading and film restoration system. Production Development and Post Production Supervision. Facility and suite design, integration and workflow design.

Craig has also developed relationships with many of the industry’s most knowledgeable and competent professionals in many areas of expertise, this, while being ahead of the general marketplace through beta-testing programs and by being included in the development of many of tomorrows technologies and processes, Scorched Ice is able to bring a much more profound understanding of production and post than our customers are generally accustomed to receiving.
